The Long Lost Owen Mays Interview
Shawn Hooligan
July 23, 2015
Sad news today as we learned of Owen Mays’ death. This is our tribute to him. We've also posted our long lost interview with him as well.
Way back in August of 2011 Shawn Hooligan got the opportunity to spread the word about the late Owen Mays – who died at the age of 32 on Wednesday – to readers of the Northwest Music Scene web site, based out of Washington State. Check it out here. Owen Mays
The interview, conducted over breakfast with Brother Kevin, Owen, myself and another party, was a preview of Owen’s upcoming Club Motor show in Seattle. It was a nice casual, question and answer session giving a little glimpse into the head of a true troubadour and fan of all types of music.
Owen’s role in the creation of HooliganHonkyTonk was crucial. It was soon after his visit that plans for the show were hatched. And he will be missed by everybody on the show who was privileged to meet him.
In addition, Shawn Hooligan pulled his head out his ass long enough to get some video of Owen and Brother Kevin tearing up an acoustic version of “Golden Chain of Hate”, recording in between slugs of Jägermeister.
Also, in case you missed it, roll on over to our tribute to Owen Mays podcast where we share some tunes some stories and some memories of Owen R.I.P.
And make sure and tell your loved ones, whether family or family by choice, how much you care about them. You never know how long they’ll be around. Peace.
